King Vultures hit London Fashion Week

Congress Centre, London, UK

September 19, 2016

Acclaimed designer and creative duo Vin + Omi showed during the London Fashion Week their Spring/Summer 2017 Ready-to-wear Collection entitled The Dreaming. The catwalk was dimmed with dark red lighting, and black origami birds hung everywhere from the ceiling, giving a fantasy ambience to the venue.

In a collaboration with our photographer and director, Siu, who provided the pictures; Vin + Omi designed a dress, a cape, and a tote bag feautring Panamanian King Vultures (Sarcoramphus papa). The models wore oversized fluffy red wigs with paintbrushes and paint palettes decoratively placed within them that combined very well with the vultures' colour patterns. The bag was accessorized with a cartoony badge, and a badge stating "no guns".

Our pictures were not only used on clothes and accesories but also on invitations and advertising. Another bird, the Africa endemic Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) was also used on clothes and advertising.

The flower vulture print dress and leather vulture print tote featured king vultures from our photos, and flowers from the photos of Sam McKnight, printed in silk by The Silk Bureau, and on leather by 2surface.
